Residing asymptomatically in living plant tissues! endophytes (mostly bacteria and fungi) are potential sources of novelnatural products to use in medicines, agriculture and industry. It is suggested that plants provide nutrient to the endophytes while endophytes may produce factors that protect their host from pests. In order to identify Quercus brantii endophytic fungi, samples were collected from different parts of Kurdistan province. For fungal isolation healthy tissues were cut into small pieces. Segments were surface sterilized by immersion in 75% ethanol for 1 min, sodium hypochlorite 1-1.5% for 10 second and washed in 75% ethanol for 30 second, then they rinsed three times in sterilized distilled water. The sterilized tissue samples were plated on PDA medium. Fungal isolates were purified on 2% water agar using hypha! tip method. Based on morphological and cultural characteristics. Coniothyrium, Chaetomium, Diplodina and Sordaria have been identified.
