During 1990s and mid 2000s, the American literary body witnessed an outgrowth of Iranian-American novels written mostly by the desire to account for the dizzying and tumultuous history of immigration following the 1979 revolution. This paper deploys Homi Bhabha's perspective of postcolonial literary theory as a critical procedure to examine Tara Bahrampour's novel. Its unifying interest is to pinpoint the shifting nature of Iranian identity manifested in To See and See Again in which Bahrampour deals with a consciousness that problematizes notions such as "home'' , '' exile'' and ''belonging". To that end I use Bhabha's concepts of liminality and hybridity stressing the "interaction between colonizer and the colonized and the interdependence and mutual construction of their subjectivities". Bahrampour's novel contests any views which privileges one culture above the another and promotes an awareness of the existence of several interlocking or even clashing realities which finally produce multiple meanings, values and identities. In short,, it is proposed that identity is not a given but rather a product of a lived reality and therefore a social construct always in process. ,
