چکیده Orchids have been well known for its unique and beautiful flowers beside some of the traditional medicinal properties. Orchids are the largest flowering family (Orchidaceae) in the plant kingdom. Approximately 2,500 wild orchid species were found in Malaysia and many more yet to be discovered and named. The great diversity in Malaysia is due to its location in the malesia region which situated in the equator line; experiencing equatorial climate namely hot and humid all year round without big changes of temperature. However the wild orchids threatened by many factors day by day. They have been sought after not only by the locals but also by international commercial for its ornamental purposes. Urbanization and deforestation are taking place in many developing countries and Malaysia is never an exception for decrement in its virgin forest that hosted many flora and fauna, especially the rare and endemic orchids; some even yet to be discovered.
