An experiment was conducted during 2003 year under environmental conditions of Ghazvin, Iran, to explore the influence of methanol and ethanol spray on maturity and ripening of grape (Vitis vinifera L.) berries. Mature 8-year-old grape `Sultana' was used. Methanol (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) and ethanol (0, 5, 10 and 20%) were applied at 1, 3, 5 and 7 weeks after full bloom. `Sultana’ produced high level of TSS (oBrix) and low level of acidity at the optimum growing season. The methanol and ethanol treatments have significant effect on fruit maturity and ripening with the better influence of methanol and the interaction effects between the time of applying solutions and solution concentrations were significant (P< 0.05).
