Public opinion is becoming more and more sensitive to the safety issues of dam and so they are more and more subjected to serious scrutiny of their safety. Though, the dams are nowadays being very well instrumented with very sophisticated instruments for measuring even the minutest changes in the monitoring parameters but the precise evaluation of the dam’s safety using the data so collected is often difficult. Though there has been considerable progress in the evaluation of the safety of concrete dams but still there are many problems to be solved. It is these problems which need serious thought and in-depth research that have been discussed at length in the paper.
