In this study, a single-operator compression cycle was used to supply the cooling load and a part of heating load of a compression cooling system. This cooling system was intended to perform the ventilation of a designed room in Sanandaj city, Iran. To this end, four refrigerants, including R-134a, R-22, R-12 and R-404a were compared in a single-stage compression cycle by two methods under similar working conditions. Modelling and simulation of the system were carried out by EES and CoolPack software. The best refrigerant in terms of performance, cost and environmental conditions as a substitute for other refrigerants was found to be R-404a in both methods. The cooling load of the given room was calculated to be 0.97 kW, while the cooling capacity of the designed system was 1.25 kW, indicating that the given system could supply the cooling load of the designed room.
