چکیده The paper addresses a multi objective power system optimization procedure to enhance the system dynamic stability margins. Thus, due to the strong capability of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) methodology as an expert method in combing the optimal solutions, it is employed to solve the optimization problem with the purpose of robust design of a supplementary damping controller based on the damping function of an Interline Power Flow Controller (IPFC). The paper’s primary goal is to optimally tune the parameters of a supplementary damping controller for the IPFC. Thus, the eigen value analysis is exerted to robustly shift the unstable power system oscillatory modes to some pre-specified stable areas in the s-plane. For this purpose, the Heffron-Phillips model of a power system equipped with the IPFC is extracted and then different operating conditions are taken into account to better design the proposed damping controller on the basis of the eigen value based multi objective function. Besides, various control signal of the IPFC is evaluated to choose the superior control signal in enhancing the system stability. In this study, the m 1(magnitude of the transformer 1 series injected voltage) based controller is superior to the m 2 based controller. Analyzing the time domain simulation and eigenvalue based results, reveal the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed PSO based IPFC damping controller in greatly improvement the power system stability.
