Abstract Javeh reservoir dam is located about 35 km to the southwest of the Sanandaj city in Kurdistan province in the west of Iran. It is a 95 m Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam consisting of approximately 550,000 m3 of RCC. Its construction phase was started in March 2008 across the Sirwan River. In this paper, quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) systems of Javeh dam were evaluated. The Quality control program of Javeh RCC included the following: aggregate crusher and gradation, moisture, batching requirements and mix proportions at the batching plant, mix delivery, compaction, joints, and all other tests and inspections required by technical specifications. For train of construction and laboratory personnel, full scale trials were constructed and all of required QA/QC tests performed on these test pads. The results obtained from the tests show advantages and disadvantages of QA/QC system and construction methods.
