چکیده The Roller Compacted Concrete (R.C.C) is a material due to new construction techniques used for construction of earth and rock fill dams and resulting into several advantages of shortening of construction period, reduction in cost, safer work execution and possibility for dam construction in accordance with geology, topography and least large scale abutment excavations. The paper presents the concept, method of construction, equipment and development of RCC in various countries of the world. It highlights the speed and economic aspects of RCC with some case studies. The authors have taken up the studies of proposed Jamrani Dam in U.P. and some brief details of mix design, development of compaction equipment in laboratory, are presented. Lastly the results of finite element studies of Jamrani Dam are presented with recommendation for RCC as new material of construction for rapid construction of hydro electric projects.
