The aim of this study is to assess the ecological needs of Roemeria sp. as a medicinal species and important species for soil conservation in the arid area of Biabanak with annual average precipitation and temperature 138mm and 18.7 respectively .After identifying the habitat of this species ,we determine topography and lithology of the study area. Vegetation sampling was done in 30 quadrates on random- systematic method. In each quadrate, the species composition and cover percentage were recorded. Also in 15 quadrates soil profiles were dug and soil sample were taken from 0-50 cm depth to determine soil characteristics. The results showed that lithology of the habitat is fine clay sediments. Slop is between 0% & 0.04% with southern aspect ,average elevation 1120 meter , canopy cover of R.sp and average percentage of habitat canopy cover are 15% and 25% respectively .According to the results of the soil study in the habitat ,the texture of soil is sandy loam ,the soil is Saline, alkaline and Sodic(EC=32.95 and Ph=7.98 and ESP=42.82), organic matter percentage is less than 0.5% and the percentage of Caco3 is 19.58%.Because of the high ability of the species to adapt itself with hard environmental condition such as high percentage of lime, high salinity, low rainfall and also its medical and conservation values, it can be used for reclamation and conservation of its habitat.
