Abstract
|
Partial oxidation is one of the technologies to produce synthesis gas from natural gas. The optimization of process parameters for partial oxidation of methane over Pt/Al2O3 catalyst washcoated on cordierite honeycomb monolith was developed using response surface methodology. The relationship between the response, i.e. CH4 conversion, with three independent variables, i.e. furnace temperature, methane composition of the feed, and methane flow rate, was presented as an empirical mathematical model. The maximum CH4 conversion of 58.94% was achieved by single-response optimization at the corresponding optimal process parameters.
