Abstract
|
Forest density is one of the basic parameters of forest management. mapping of forest parameters in large areas is not easily through field survey or by means of aerial photo interpretation. In contrast, satellite data with their characteristics has created a high potential in forest mapping. Availability of SPOT-HRG data can be considered as a turning point in operational observation. the main purpose of this investigation is determination of potential of SPOT5-HRG, the newestoperational high resolution satellite data, for forest density mapping at the scale of 1:25000 in mountainous mixed decidous forest in the northern of Iran
