Abstract

The aim of the present research is to comparatively investigate the emotion seeking and attachment styles of the runaway and normal girls. For this purpose, 80, 13-25 year-old girls were chosen as subjects. From among this number, as many as 40 runaway girls, living at health home centers of Tehran were chosen through available sampling and as many as 40 normal girls who were matched with the runaway girls in terms of age, education, and economic status were chosen through simple random method. Measuring tools in this research include the 1993 Shaver and Hazan attachment style scale and the Arent emotion seeking scale. In order to statistically investigate the data, the independent t test was applied. Findings revealed that there is no significant difference between the runaway and non-runaway girls in terms of ambivalent and avoidant attachment styles. Normal girls are more than the runaway girls belonged to a safe attachment style. There is a significant difference between the two groups in terms of insecure attachment style (avoidant and ambivalent styles wholly) while in terms of emotion seeking there is no significant difference.
