This seminar is an attempt to point to some of the dominant narrative techniques in a typical modernist narrative. Modern Narrative techniques are the necessities of a new age and novel theories in the field of narrative and fiction. a dominant difference between Modern and pre-Modern narrative works, to put it in Tzvetan Todorov's terminology, is the the former are mostly psychological while the latter are apsychological. Faulkner's As I Lay Dying is a typical example of a Modernist narrative since it has been written during the time when modernism as a movement in art and literature was in its apex and one can see the intertextual factors like the interrelations between pictorial and visual arts on the one hand and the narrative frame of this novel on the other.
