Abstract

Nowadays, the most important variable of multilateral development in organizations and businesses is knowledge. A correlation study was conducted to identify the relationship between knowledge management and applying information technology in departments of sports and youth in West Azerbaijan province. The study population included all office employees of the departments of sports and youth the statistical sample was set equal to the statistical population (130 = N).Measurement tools consist of a standard questionnaire for measuring knowledge management and information technology questionnaire provided by the researcher that a group of academic experts confirmed its face and content validity. The reliability of knowledge management and that of IT questionnaires were obtained as 90/0 and97/0, respectively. For data analysis, Pearson correlation, multivariate regression and analysis of variance were used. The results indicated that there existed a significant positive relationship between knowledge management and applying information technology. Regression results also showed that the subscale of knowledge acquisition is best predictor of applying information technology among the staffs in the departments of sports and youth in West Azerbaijan province. Therefore, information technology is one of the infrastructures of effective knowledge management and for knowledge management to be successful in a given organization; the implementation of information technology is the key and should be considered as an effective tool in the acquisition, distribution and accountability to knowledge.
