Abstract

While caves in Iran mostly are found accidentally, in this study geomorphological filed survey led us to discovery of a cave which latter was named as “Tuzhal”. The cave is located in Sardasht municipal, northwest of Iran. in fact, a hole as wide as 20cm was the only entrance of the cave appeared from outside. Entering the hole was quite difficult so the entrance was carved to get it wide enough for a person to enter the cave. Then, a team including three persons entered the cave in order to evaluate its expansion and morphology. The team conducted land forms morphometery and photography of the corridors of the cave. Further geological survey in the area revealed more holes distributed as far as 5km around the original hole which are suspicious to be avens of the same cave. Additionally, micro and marco Karstic landforms were observed in the area. The Karstic formation and other natural tourism attractions including unique green cover and waterfalls may help local economy to develop tourism industry. Further caving by professionals is needed to recognize all parts of the cave.
