Abstract

In traditional forestry in Baneh region, owner of forest applies mixture styles of even-aged coppice on tree (on trunk & crown) and uneven-aged coppice (on earth) for preparing food for domestic animals and wood. In this research, one less-disturbed and one traditionally-used stands were selected. Selected stands had similar physiographic conditions. In each stand, diameter at breast height, collar diameter, total height, trunk height, crown length and crown area of all Quercus Libani trees over 5 cm dbh were measured. The measured factors in less-disturbed and traditionally-used stands were compared. The differences in diameter at breast height, collar diameter, total height, trunk height and crown length of Quercus Libani in studied stands were compared using independent samples t-test. Crown area of Quercus Libani in studied stands was compared by Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the mean diameter at breast height, collar diameter, total height, trunk height and crown length of Quercus Libani are significantly different (P< 0.01) among the stands. Crown area of Quercus Libani in less-disturbed and traditionally-used stands was considerably different (P< 0.01).
