The Pazanan oil field is located 150 km SE of Ahvaz city in SW of Iran and measures 60 km long, 4-6 km wide. Geologically it is located in the south western part of the Zagros fold-and-thrust belt in Dezful Embayment. The kinematic scenario for folding in central Zagros was drawn in several parts by some authors. The Pazanan oil field is among the geologically complex fields in Zagros, difficult for making the folding scenario from poor quality seismic sections. However, it is proved that there exist several local decollement levels activated during folding. Based on the folding scenario, the seismic sections was interpreted. The sections show that deformation starts by buckling and migration of the basal ductile unit toward the core of the detachment fold. Then it continued by development of the fold with migration of material from synclines toward the anticline and limb rotation. At this stage a major thrust fault develops in deeper part. Two seismic sections orthogonal to the strike of the anticline was interpreted and proved the previous stated scenario.
