A facile and convenient synthesis of N-acetyl-2-aryl-1,2-dihydro-(4H)-3,1-benzoxazin-4-ones has been reported by cyclization of some 2-(benzylidene-amino)-benzoic acids in acetic anhydride under reflux condition. High yields of the products obtained in high purity with simple work-up.
