Abstract

To understand the significance of personalized learning, we first need to define it and place it in historical context. Personalized learning in education is an approach that tailors instruction to the unique needs, interests, and abilities of individual students, departing from the traditional one-size-fits-all model of education. A valuable resource for gaining insights into personalized learning is the book "Personalized Learning: A Guide for Engaging Students with Technology" by Peggy Grant and Dale Basye. This book provides a comprehensive definition and emphasizes how personalized learning can engage students more deeply in their learning journey. In terms of historical context, the roots of personalized learning can be traced back to John Dewey, an influential educational philosopher who advocated for student-centered learning and individualized instruction. His work, particularly "Experience and Education," serves as a foundational resource for understanding the historical context of personalized learning.
