This paper proposes a new combination of Synchrosqueezed short time Fourier Transform and Prony algorithm to scrutiny power system low frequency electromechanical oscillations. Controlling large scale power systems requires accurate estimation of inter-area and local modes and the primary purpose of controllers is to damp these modes. The design of the PSS and FACTS parameters is a multi-objective optimization, which is solved here by the Particle Swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and the residual method. This optimization algorithm is exerted to increase damping and the power system control parameters meet their constraints and practical limits. The effectiveness of the proposed method is investigated and validated through simulation studies on 68-bus 16-generator system. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the suggested method to stabilize power system.
