Abstract These polymers showed good thermal stability with glass transition temperatures (Tg) between 212-355 °C and 10% weight loss temperatures were recorded around 421 °C and 460 °C in air and N2, respectively. The results demonstrated the beneficial effects of using IL/TPP media in the synthesis of PAEs, such as simplicity in operation, good yields and moderate viscosity, shorter reaction time, not being needed to remove some chemicals (e.g. NMP, LiCl and Py), nonvolatility and reusability, as well as the environmental pollution.
