Title EVALUATION OF SAFETY AND STRUCTURAL STABILITY OF JEGIN RCC DAM DURING OPERATION PERIOD
Type Presentation
Keywords Evaluation of safety and Stability Jegin RCC Dam, Monitoring instruments, Finite Element Methods, Collected data, Back analysis
Abstract The Jegin Dam is located about 60 km to the northeast of the Jask city in Hormozgan province in Iran. It is a 68 m Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam which was successfully completed in January 2009 across the Jegin River. Jegin gravity dam is the first RCC dam that built in Iran. In jegin RCC dam, enough and suitable monitoring instruments has been designed and installed to follow closely the structural safety and stability of dam during construction, first impounding and operation period. All the instrumentations, installed inside the dam body, galleries, abutments and foundation of the dam had been operated prior to impounding the reservoir to control structural stability of dam. In this paper, safety and structural stability of Jegin RCC dam were evaluated on the basis of collected data from the monitoring instruments and results obtained from structural back analysis. The finite element method (FEM) is used for back analysis of the dam. Results show that Jegin RCC is in the safe and stable condition.
