|
Alkyl 2-nitroacetates 2 react with alkyl phenylpropiolates 1 in the presence of Ph3P in a mechanistically novel reaction to afford trialkyl 3-phenylbuta-1,3-diene-1,2,4-tricarboxylates in yields of 60 –80% under neutral conditions.
