Abstract
|
Mathematical modeling of supercritical extraction of nimbin from neem seeds using supercritical carbon dioxide (with methanol as co-solvent) was performed in this study. At first by numerical solution technique, the external mass transfer coefficient was determined by fitting the theoretical extraction curve to experimental data, so a set of data which relate Sherwood number (Sh) with dimensionless groups; Reynolds number (Re), Schmidt number (Sc) and Grashof number (Gr). At the next step using methanol as co-solvent the modified model of extractor was solved and successfully was validated with experimental data.
