Abstract

Full collaboration in supply chains is an ideal that the participant firms should attempt to achieve. However, Neural network, an emerging technique in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has a strong appeal for a wide range of applications. Seldom has the concept been related directly to Supply Chain Management (SCM), it has however been employed in a number of fields which constitute the core elements of supply chains. This paper introduces Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and then examines some applications in SCM. Four applications are surveyed where ANNs are used as the problem solving methodology. These applications are namely optimization, forecasting, simulation, and decision support.
