Abstract

The late rise of the Kurdish novel in the 1920s has resulted in a kind of formlessness and lack of identity in the form of Kurdish novel. We cannot expect the same technical developments, we see in the European novel, in the Kurdish novel due to a number of facts that are to be discussed in this paper. By form, we mean the very elements that are regarded to be the distinguishing principles of three dominant stages of the rise and development of the novel. Being born in the late 1920s, which was synchronous with the rise of new techniques in the field of novel and novelistic discourse in Europe, the Kurdish novel, contrary to what is usually claimed, does not have a logical historical development and accordingly, any attempt to propose a line of development or consider a trajectory for the development of Kurdish novel might come to a failure. A reading of the novels from Shemo to the present day proves the fact that Kurdish novel lacks identity concerning form and a formal development. Although one can trace and locate most of the formal features of the past 300 hundred years or so in the Kurdish novel, these have not led to the formation of a poetics of Kurdish novel.
