Abstract

Alice Munro, the winner of the Noble Prize for literature in 2014, is a Canadian short story writer who has not been read much in our country. One of the reasons is the fact that Iranian students have given more attention to the novel rather than short story as a literary form. Munro is a master of short story writing who has developed the art and technique of short story writing to an extent that some critics like Marylin Simonds have called her short stories novelistic. Munro’s short stories have a highly wide scope. They are involved in philosophical and existentialist issues. In this presentation we endeavor to point to Munro’s particular thematic and technical features.
