In recent years, many attentions have been focused on semiconductors nanocrystals (NCS) dye to their interesting properties and potential applications in laser[1], electronic device[2], light-emitting [3], biological imaging, therapeutics [4], etc. while II-VI semiconductors NCs have been prepared routiely and studied extensively [5], very little work exists to date on either HgS clusters or HgS nanocrystals, transition metal chalcogenidess, as important semiconducrors materials, have attracted widely attentions because of their wonderful physical and chemical properties, and broad application in many field [6]. Herein, we report the synthesis of HgS nanoparticles by a cheap , simple and easy to establish from readily available metal precursor. HgS nanoparticles were characterized by powder x-ray diffraction (XRD), Transition electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDAX). Image analysis confirms that HgS nanoparticles are spherical and average particle size distributes in the narrow range of 2.5-20 nm.
