Introduction:Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers. Studies in Iran also shows that skin cancer alone has been form 5.2% from 32.7% of all cancers and their prevalence is increasing in recent decades. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of skin cancer in the Kurdistan province, and analysis of environmental risk factors affecting it in Kurdistan province on the spatial distribution map and identification of high-risk areas. Materials and methods: The research method was descriptive - analytical with help of Statistical software and GIS for mapping the distribution of skin cancer in Kurdistan over a period of 2006 to 2010, also the differences of suffering people in factors like residence region, gender and age, shown in some diagrams. At the next step because of the high rate of skin cancer infection in some cities, we prepared a distribution map of ultraviolet radiation that is effective in skin cancer risk. Results and discussion: Sanandaj township with a rate of 17.55 has the highest prevalence rate among the other cities and Sarwabad with rate of 3.73inevery hundred thousand people has the lowest rate. As a result, the number of male patients (542) was nearly double more than those among women (324) and people in urban areas (68.01) are more than double those who live in rural areas (31.99). Conclusions: Quality of life for men and their job Contact to the sun can be a major risk factor in the growing process Skin cancer in Province. The correlation between the skin cancer incidence at the level of districts and ultraviolet index was not significantly observed. Actions and further research is needed in this field.
