چکیده

Water pollution is a serious problem today. Karstic water resources have higher quality than other water resources. Karstic water is important in the supply of drinking water in different regions in the world. These resources are very sensitive to pollution. Pollution of Karaftoo cave karstic water is the subject of this research. This cave has been located in 46° 52' 23" E longitude and 36° 52' 23" N. It is in 74 kilometers from the Divandarah city, in the northern part of Kurdistan Province, Iran. To evaluate the quality of drinking karst water in area initially, the water was sampled. And the laboratory of metals (Pb, Fe, As, Na, K, Ca, and Mg) and total solids were measured with the use of atomic absorption spectrometry. Based on the analysis results in terms of milligrams per liter are: Lead (0.021), arsenic (0.213), iron (0.002274), Na (0.149), potassium (0.05), calcium (2.708), magnesium (0) and total solids (107) mg/ L. The results show that the maximum concentration of heavy metals such as arsenic and lead measurement exceeds the maximum allowed for drinking water. Lead poisoning can lead to serious damage to the kidneys, liver, brain and mental retardation in children and human mortality. Arsenic causes digestive diseases and diseases of the blood. Concentrations of heavy metals and other light elements of samples is less than the amount of drinking water standards and no significant difference was observed between samples. Based on the results, the karstic waters in Karaftoo cave are polluted and its effect on human health is definite. In short time, karstic water in this cave is not suitable for drinking and it must be purified before use. In the long term, we need to identify the causes of water pollution in the cave and out of it, and we will solve the serious problems of water pollution.
