In this talk we introduce new contractive type mappings on complete metric and Banach which are generalizations of asymptotic and asymptotic pointwise contractions introduced by Kirk who also obtained fixed point theorems for these mappings. We present fixed point theorems that are more general than the final generalizations that have been done. Also, we discuss some results for asymptotic contractions of Browder's and Edelstein type
