The Building Integrated Photovoltaic/Thermal (BIPVT ) system is a technology which combines PV and thermal systems into the building structure, simultaneously providing both electric and thermal energy. Through this combination, heat is carried away from PV module by the thermal part of the system (absorber collector); keep temperature lower and drop in the efficiency due to rising temperature becomes less. This paper describes the history and some recent progress in PV/T systems, which utilize water as heat removal medium for different applications. Future trends in the developments and research of water based PVT systems are also presented.
