چکیده

Heating coils are widely used as heat exchanger in many industrial and air-conditioning systems. This study evaluates the thermal performance of cylindrical spiral coils with different sizes using nanofluid as the working fluid. Variable parameters include coil diameter, pitch coil, nanofluid mass flow rate and nanofluid concentration. The nanofluid considered for this study is ethylene glycol based TiO2 nanofluid and the range of volumetric concentration is 1% < φ < 3% . Classical equations are used to determine the thermophysical properties of nanofluid. The geometry of system is created by solidworks software and simulated in flow simulation software. The results show that increasing the pitch coil improves the heat transfer of the coil, and the outlet fluid temperature of the coil is increased by 1 degree. Increased diameter of thermal coil also causes a pressure drop along the coil. The outlet fluid temperature of the coil increases from 311 to 322 °K with a rise in the flow rate of nanofluid in thermal coil, exerting maximum impact on the coil performance. Increased concentration of nanofluid causes a more evident pressure drop along the coil, indicating a higher value than the other studied parameters.
