Oriental plane tree (Platanus orientalis L.) is used widely in our country (Iran) in industry, urban forestry, parks and gardens. There are many methods to propagation of platan but the vegetative propagation of it by cutting is the best way. Form, age and genotype of cuttings and hormone treatments are the effective factors for propagation of trees by cuttings. The main aim of this research was the study of effects of variant concentration of Indole butyric acid (IBA) on rooting of one and two year old cuttings of oriental plane tree and suggesting the most suitable and less expensive way to vegetative propagation of it. To reaching to this aim were planted 120 cuttings in each treatment (960 cuttings at all). In order to compare of quantitative and qualitative characters of treatments some factors such as percent of survival, number of roots and their dry and wet weight, length of tallest root, sum of length of roots, number of leaves and their dry and wet weight and length of new branch in each cuttings were studied. 20 live seedlings (10 one year and 10 two year old) were selected as samples for data gathering. Data were analyzed by SPSS software using factorial randomized design (hormone factor in 8 levels and age factor in 2 levels). The normality of data was tested by kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Using two-way ANOVA, Duncan’s multiple test at level of 5% was used to comparing of means of treatments. Excel software was used to drawing of histograms and figures. The results show that there were significant differences between one and two years old cuttings. The two years old cuttings had significantly better status in compare to one year old cuttings considering all under studying quantitative and qualitative parameters. Treatment 5000ppm IBA had significant difference with other hormone treatments and showed the best results compared to other treatments regarding quantitative and qualitative characteristics. As the main result we can say that two year old cuttings
