The high incidence and prevalence rates among college and University students identify them as a vulnerable population. The National Institute of Mental Health recommends interventions are designed to prevent the onset of clinical depression in at-risk groups. Given the prevalence and impact of depression in university students, there is a pressing need to develop and implement effective interventions. Accordingly, some researchers (e.g., Buchanan, 2012) also recommended that future research should primarily focus on evaluating the efficacy of individual versus group cognitive behavior interventions for depression within student populations.
