- In recent years virtual reality techniques have been widely used to design industrial systems. Naturally risk assessment and risk visualisation can be on of the most useful applications of these techniques. But traditional approaches are not appropriate for the presentation dangerous zones (DZs) in virtual environments. Also there are operational difficulties related to using the sophisticated mathematical models to evaluate effect of various parameters in risk assessment. A new approach by extraction fuzzy set concept is proposed to satisfy these requirements. The severity of the eventual risks in this method are presented as a characteristics of the a zone around the hazardous object. We can demonstrate this characteristic in virtual workplace as a solid-transparent object. Also in this way, we successfully separated the concepts “severity” and “probability” in risk analysis processes. This separation obviously simplifies the risk analysis process around a dangerous object.
