The purpose of this study is to evaluate how different economic selection indices can satisfy a certain breeding goal for genetic improvement of both meat and mohair productions in Markhoz goats using hypothesized relative economic values. For the selection of superior animals to increase meat and mohair production, the weight of 6-month kids and mohair weight were used as selection criteria. Five selection indices were designed to compare genetic and economic gain for traits included in the indices with a fixed number of selected males (10) and females (55) from 3 age classes. The maximum genetic gain for both traits and maximum total economic gain were predicted for a selection index which included body weight and mohair production with an equal relative importance weight. Therefore, the most beneficial selection index forsimultaneously improving traits of meat and mohair production in Markhoz goats was the equation of 1*W6+1*Mohair.
