Abstract

A series of bimetallic Fe/Cu mesostructured samples were synthesized via post-functionalization modification of MCM-41, without the ligand (MCM-41@Cu-Fe) and with ligand glutamine (MCM-41@Gln@Cu-Fe). A bimetallic mesostructured Fe-Cu/MCM-41 catalyst was also synthesized by the co-condensation method (Cu-Fe/MCM-41). The catalysts were characterized by nitrogen adsorption –desorption, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The effect of the synthesis procedure on the catalyst's properties was investigated by N2 adsorption/desorption, XRD, and SEM. The catalysts were tested in the synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles. These catalysts are cost-effective for this reaction. Cu-Fe/MCM-41 sample exhibited better catalytic activity compared to other catalysts
