This paper reports the fabrication of La supported on CoFe2O4 nanoparticles through tryptophan (Trp) post-functionalization modification of CoFe2O4 which can be used as an efficient recyclable nanocatalyst. The layer (Trp) on the surface of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles offers large surface area for supporting La (III). The asprepared CoFe2O4/ Trp/La nanocatalyst assemblies exhibit high catalytic activity and chemo-selectivity for the selective oxidation of sulfides and synthesis of symmetrical disulfides. Furthermore, the nanocatalyst displays a good recoverable property during the catalytic procedure by easy and efficient separation from the reaction system and it was reused several periods without any remarkable decrease in the catalytic activity and selectivity.
