Abstract

In this study the lattice Boltzmann model (LBM) has been used to simulate diffusion of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) inside a spherical tissue as a porous media during magnetic fluid hyperthermia (MFH). To validate the numerical results, diffusion in infinite one and two dimensional domains have been compared with the analytical solution. Agreement were excellent. Then diffusion of a water based nanofluid containing magnetite MNPs (ferrofluid) in the spherical tissue has been studied and effects of infusion flow rate of ferrofluid as well as ferrofluid injection volume on the deposition of MNPs inside the tissue have been investigated. Also specific absorption rate ( SAR) that is equal to power dissipation of MNPs inside the tissue in an alternating magnetic field has been calculated.
