Strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa) fruit have a very short postharvest life because of its high respiration rate, fruit weight loss and susceptibility to decay pathogens. The current study was carried out to evaluate the possible effect of polyethylene films (PEF) containing nano material on strawberry fruit storability. Strawberry fruit ‘Queen Elisa’ packed in PEF as control, PEF containing 1% nano ZnO and PEF containing nano TiO2 and stored at 1 ˚C for 2 weeks. Fruit sampled at 3 days interval and some fruit quality and microbial load were measured. The initial data showed total aerobic mesophilic bacteria and total yeast and mold in PEF + nano ZnO and nano TiO2 were lower than PEF solely. Fruit quality parameters declined during storage and packaging compositing could affect the changes trend. It could be proposed that packaging contain anti-microbial agent might be a useful technique to reduce fruit postharvest losses.
