In this study, the rotating jet electrospinning method has been modified to elevate the degree of alignment of electrospun nanofibers. For this purpose, the cylindrical collector of the rotating jet method was replaced by two stainless steel concentric hollow cylinders. This modification amplifies the strength of electrical field. This event directly affects the degree of alignment of electrospun nanofibers. To investigate the extent of effectiveness of this modification, aligned electrospun nanofibers were generated in various conditions. Then, alignment of electrospun fibers were analyzed through using digital image processing according to Fourier power spectrum (FPS) method. The results were compared with the corresponding data for simple rotating jet method. It is revealed that, this new method (modification) enhances the degree of alignment of electrospun nanofibers more than two times when compared to the regular rotating jet method.
