We report a high power, synchronously pumped femtosec- ond optical parametric oscillator (SPOPO) based on type I phase-matching inside the xz optical plane of a BiB3O6 crystal. The OPO, pumped by 3.5 W power of femtosecond green pulses at 515 nm with 76 MHz repetition rate pro- duces high power (>1 W) signal pulses tunable in the visible range of 620–705 nm and powerful (hundreds of mW) idler pulses in the wide infrared range of 1900–3040 nm.
