Optical properties of BIBO are reviewed and the applications of this crystal for efficient nonlinear interactions from UV to IR using femtosecond pump pulses with different energy scales from low-energy nJ-level to high-energy mJ-level are presented. Experimental results confirm the higher efficiency, better performance and unique properties of BIBO compared to wellknown standard crystals.
