The purpose of this paper is to choose the best prime mover of a micro-CCHP system for using in a residential building in the regions with hot and dry climate in Iran. Four main options include conventional separate production, internal combustion engine, micro-gas turbine and sterling engine. Other options such as gas turbine, steam turbine and fuel cell are omitted in the pre-design steps. Fuzzy logic is utilized to select the best possible one. Four main criteria including technological (T), economical (EC), environmental (EN), and social (S) are considered in the decision-making process. There are some sub-criteria under each criterion. In this work, the impact of import-export limitations (IEL) in Iran on the decision-making process is also considered. After the overall evaluations, the fuzzy model proposes that the best and worst prime movers are internal combustion and micro-gas turbine respectively.
