The problem of mutual coupling (MC) between two conformal microstrip patch antennas is simplified to that of two planar patch antennas and is then solved easily. A modified Schwarz-Christoffel transformation (SCT) is used to do this task. This method conformally maps a straight two-dimensional channel into a curved one. Since the structure under investigation has an elongated curved cross section, conventional SCT is modified to be appropriate to deal with such regions. SCT is proved to be fast and accurate. This method is verified and utilized to calculate the mutual coupling between two patch antennas on convex and concave parabolic surfaces in terms of frequency and the spacing between the two patch elements.
