A wide variety of reagents have been used for the preparation of dibenzoxanthenes, by reaction of 2-naphthol with aromatic aldehyde. We report an efficient method for the synthesis of dibenzoxanthenes by the condensation of aromatic aldehyde with 2-naphthol under solvent-free conditions in good to excellent yields in the presence of catalytic amounts of cyanorosulfuric acid.
