In the Middle East, and in particular in the Kurdistan region, the process of urbanization is accelerating, with the accumulation of more population in cities and the increase in the number of cities. This transformation has made the planners to pay attention more urgently to the development of the city and the surrounding area. The CDS has been developing for decades in many cities of developed and developing countries, especially in the larg cities, which has become more widespread in the last decade and is also recommended for many small towns. Although urban development strategy was primarily a poverty reduction approach, today the emphasis on more efficiency of this approach is integrated into helping the city and the region to achieve economic and social development. As a matter of fact, the Urban Development Strategy look as a macro development document and a participatory and Inclusive approach is a step towards the promotion and fair development of the city and its surroundings, which can ultimately help improve the city's living conditions. A good and desirable city should be sustainable and viable, so that it can provide high quality and decent lives for today's and tomorrow citizens, the city development strategy has shown its effectiveness in achieving this goal. Certainly, in order to create a developed and sustainable city and region, economic growth, along with job creation and wealth and equal opportunity for all, are essential. The urban development strategy can draw the vision for the future, and the methods, steps, tools, efficiency resources allocation, and the institutional and structural framework and capacities needed to fulfill the vision. Due to the prospects for sustainable development and prosperous economic development, the Kurdistan Region can take advantage of the Urban Development Strategy for the integrated development of the city and the region and provide the foundations for comprehensive development.
