Ground level ozone concentration has become an issue of concern because of its adverse effect to human health and ecosystem. This study aims to use a different method to monitor the ambient ozone concentration, which is by using passive samplers. Sampling points in Putrajaya were randomly selected from the gridded map produced to install the passive samplers. Samplers were installed at 2 to 3 meter high above the ground to allow for free air movement and also to avoid restrictions to air passage that might occur if samplers were located on the grounds. Passive samplers were exposed to the ambient air for 48 hours. Two batches of samplers were later on sent to laboratory for analysis. Results showed that ozone concentration were relatively higher on weekend compared to weekdays. Comparisons were made between the data obtained from the passive samplers of various locations and the observation data from monitoring station located in Putrajaya. Analysis showed that there are significant differences for some sampling locations when comparisons with observation data from monitoring station were made. Passive sampling technique can be use to provide information on the spatial distribution of ozone concentration in Putrajaya and this technique can also be applied to obtain information on a certain air pollutant at a specific desired location.
